¡Bienvenidos al nuevo año de escuela! Welcome to the new school year! Me llamo Señora Shearer. My name is Mrs. Shearer. Estoy muy emocionada enseñarte y presentarte al mundo de español. I am excited to teach you and introduce you to the world of Spanish.
I have been teaching Spanish for 15 years. I am a positive, upbeat teacher with a passion for the Spanish language and a love for students. My hope is to bring the language to life and spark an interest in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding Spanish. I went to college at The University of Texas at Austin where I received both my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. During my time at UT I played on the women's varsity soccer team, as a full scholarship athlete. I still hold the record for the fastest goal ever scored- 9 seconds!
My mother and grandmother were born and raised in Bogota, Colombia and my father is from Michigan. I gained a passion for teaching Spanish post College, after traveling to various countries in Central and South America as a missionary. Before returning to the United States, I lived in Santa Cruz, Bolivia where I worked with Rio de Vida church helping Bolivian families and teaching in the local churches and schools.
I am happily married to my amazing husband of 16 years, Trey Shearer, who is the P.E. teacher at Silver Creek Elementary. We have a beautiful 4 year old son and daily marvel in the joy of being parents. I am a strong Christian woman and have a passion for serving The Lord. My favorite hobby is running- I enjoy running long distance races, half marathons, marathons, and competing in triathlons. I also like hunting, fishing, and reading. I am looking forward to a great year at Weatherford High School!
