Dear WHS Students and Families,
Providing a career-focused education is one of our top priorities in the Career and Technical Education Department (CTE) at WISD. Connecting high school education to workforce needs and post-secondary education is important to student success. Whether a student is planning to go to technical school, pursue university studies, or go directly into the workforce, our CTE programs provide a pipeline to student’s goals.
When students can see the relevance of their education and how it can be utilized in the real world, they see “why” school matters. As our highly qualified teachers teach through the lens of their industry focus, our students can reach their aspirations. And preparing our students for the global community is our mission.
For seven years I served as a social worker, working with hundreds of families in poverty and a quality education would have been the cure for that poverty. Our goal is for our students to have an array of opportunities and choices so that students can find their niche and learn the skills necessary for success in the workforce or post-secondary education. Our community partners help us ensure we are teaching the most current skills and offering the most current licensures and certifications as possible.
Please take some time to peruse the opportunities our WHS CTE programs offer and if you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
