I have a purpose
I am a valuable member of my community
Those around me seek my knowledge and strength
I am important needed and resourceful
I will be successful beyond everyone's expectations
And I will let no one discourage my dreams.
My name is Patricia Hoffman, and I am the Health Science and Technologies teacher for Weatherford High School. I have a Nursing Science degree from Tarleton State University and am a registered nurse. I started my interest in nursing as a certified nurse aide. I have to say, passing that exam was one of the best moments in my life! I learned to have compassion for patients as a CNA, and I hope my students that are interested in the health care field will fall in love with the "service of serving" as I did. I continued my education and went to work at Plaza Medical Hospital in the critical care unit, where I cared for acutely ill patients, served on the ethics committee, and rapid response team. I have always been fascinated with home care, and the benefits healing in the home for the patient. I went to work for Amedisys Home Health as a field RN case manager, and moved on to clinical manager, and then corporate nursing as a quality care coordinator. Much of my past experiences included education of patients, and new employees. It was my favorite part of the job. I can't wait to share my experiences, and share in the learning process with the students. I am passionate about the health care field and all the possibilities it holds for our future members. I am looking forward to an amazing year.
