My name is Darryn Shearmire. This is my sixth year in WISD as the head girls' basketball coach, but my 31st year in coaching and teaching. I just celebrated my 52nd birthday this past summer. I started my coaching career in 1986 as a grad asst. at Abilene Christian University in the men's basketball program. I left the next year to coach at Abilene Christian High School, then returned to ACU the following year as an assistant basketball coach for the men and remained there three years, with my last year being the interim head coach.
I moved from there to the University of North Texas as a grad asst. in the women's program, then the next year went back to the high school ranks as the head boys' basketball coach at Sanger High School for two years.
I then went to south Texas for a year as the head boys' basketball coach at Ingram Tom Moore High School, but returned to the Metroplex as an assistant boys' basketball coach at Coppell High School for three years.
After that, I became the head boys' basketball coach at Grapevine High School and remained there for 13 years before heading out to Weatherford to coach girls' basketball.
I have been married for 28 years and have one daughter who is a junior at Harding University, and another who is a senior at Weatherford High School.
I grew up a gym rat and was an all-state basketball player for two years at Archer City High School, and went on to play college basketball at Abilene Christian University from 1983-1986.
In my High School career I have taught Health, PE, 6-8th grade math, Algebra 1, Geometry, and Math Models. This is my second year to teach Geometry at Weatherford HS.
