My name is Christi Bartel and I am starting my sixteenth year of teaching at WHS. While I have taught many different science courses, my primary teaching experience has been in chemistry and forensic science. This will be my eleventh year to teach forensic science and I am very excited!! I am a Weatherford High School graduate and am proud to be a Roo! After graduating high school I attended the University of Texas at Arlington and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Upon graduating from UTA, I went to work as an intensive care nurse at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. While working at Baylor I obtained my certified critical care nurse (CCRN) credential which allowed me to work in all seven of their intensive care units. I also had the opportunity to work part-time as a trauma care coordinator at Parkland Memorial Hospital, which is where I became interested in education. The more time I spent with my patients and their families educating them, the more I realized I wanted to be an educator. Leaving full-time nursing for education was a difficult decision but I have never regretted it. I continue to nurse part-time during summer breaks. I love being a teacher and would not trade it for anything!!
