WHS Parking Lot Change

We have listened to parent concerns, analyzed parking lot incident data, and worked with the WISD Safety and Security Department to create a new traffic flow design for the parking lot that is adjacent to Bethel Road.

The following changes are being implemented in an effort to enhance parking lot safety by managing the traffic flow in this parking area.

Please refer to the map for traffic flow changes that will begin on Monday, November 11, 2019.

  • The neon green lines and arrows depict traffic flow zones for the parking lot alongside Bethel Road.
  • Orange lines indicate zones that will be blocked off by traffic cones.

In addition to the traffic flow modifications, Weatherford ISD will begin conducting safe driving checks for the remainder of the school year.  We have also collaborated with Weatherford Police School Resource Officers to patrol the parking lot for individual traveling too fast (traveling at speeds above 10 MPH) and other unsafe driving practices.  WPD officers will shared their finding with WISD officials for administrative review, which may result in suspension of driving privileges within WHS property.

Thank you for your cooperation as we implement changes designed to enhance the parking lot safety for our students, staff, parents, and visitors.

Stay Alert:

Safety isn't guaranteed just by driving slowly in parking lots. The following are some safety tips for drivers courtesy of the Weatherford ISD Safety and Security Department:

Stay in lanes and avoid cutting across lots
Drive slowly and follow the new traffic pattern for the lot adjacent to Bethel Road
Anticipate the actions of other drivers
Obey stop signs and no-parking signs
When backing out, be mindful of vehicles and pedestrians
Watch for pedestrians and avoid distractions while driving

Please contact the Safety and Security Department if you have any questions regarding this directive.
