About the Instructor
My name is Amanda Kenyon and I am the instructor for the Civil Engineering and Architecture program at Weatherford High School. I began my educational journey in 2012 as a science teacher and later completed training to teach high school engineering courses in 2017. I have achieved certifications in all levels of engineering courses that range from introductory classes as well as specialty courses such as Digital Electronics, Aerospace and Civil engineering. I have also attained Certified User certifications in both Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Revit.

I have experience in instructional leadership and have facilitated student organizations such as TSA and FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics. I have also assisted students in securing internships at prestigious companies in the DFW area. I have a Bachelor's of Science degree from Sul Ross State University in Alpine, TX. I have a deep love for education and helping all students learn what their passion is and how to pursue it. I truly believe that education is the key to their future.

Cell Phone Policy

It is the general consensus in Weatherford ISD that cell phones are not warranted in the classroom unless used for academic purposes. My policy is that phones should be put away in a designated area during the entirety of the class. Cell phones are also, under no circumstances, to be plugged into the classroom computers at any time. Please contact me if you have any questions on this issue.

Technology
We have the privilege of having computers with current software in order to learn industry-based skills. As a student and as part of your professionalism grade, you are to take the utmost care of these devices. You will be assigned a computer for the whole year (too many users can cause issues with the devices). Only bottled water is allowed near them and the caps must remain on when not taking a drink. Bottles must also be stored on the floor when not drinking as well. Absolutely no food allowed when using the computer. Please completely log off the computers before leaving for the day and do not share your login info with other students.
Professionalism Grade
I strongly feel that as a CTE course, this class should be preparing you for industry in the near future. Therefore, I do take a Professionalism Grade every 3 weeks. Everyone will start with an 85 and there will be opportunities to gain points. Some examples of these opportunities can be a simple as being to class on time every day, following the school's dress code policy as well as general classroom procedures. Some other ways of earning points are speaking up and engaging when questions are asked, offering to assist class members and myself and going beyond the bare minimum of the assignment. Some ways a student can lose points is by being tardy, damaging equipment/materials, not having their supplies, disregarding the cell phone policy, inappropriate language and misuse of school technology.
