Attention parents and guardians: You are invited to join the Weatherford ISD Parent Teacher Association. Please fill out the attached document to become a member of this wonderful organization.

The Weatherford Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will provide four scholarships to deserving seniors. Preference is given to students who are planning to attend Weatherford College. The scholarship award will be between $350 - $500 which may be applied to tuition, books, or supplies. Students will need to provide their GPA, class rank, SAT or ACT scores, and a list of their extracurricular activities. Applications are available in the Student Services Center and the application deadline is March 1, 2014.

Seniors, if you plan to attend The University of Texas at San Antonio, you may be eligible for the $2,000 UTSA Alumni Association Scholarship. You will need a 3.0 GPA, one letter of recommendation, be in the top 25 percent of your class, have a minimum SAT score of 900(Reading and Math) or ACT score of 20 and complete the online application. The application deadline is February 15, 2014. Go to alumni.utsa.edu/scholarship for more information about this scholarship.

New scholarship opportunities are coming in everyday. Visit the Student Services Center to pick up scholarship applications and visit with your counselor about financial aid opportunities for college.

Seniors, four $350 scholarships will be awarded to Weatherford High School seniors. Preference will be given to WESA member's children. Students will need at least a 3.0 GPA, a copy of the current transcript, two letters of reference, and a completed application. Students may attend a university, college or trade school to be eligible for this scholarship. The applications are available in the Student Services Center and the deadline is March 21, 2014.

The $1,000 Brazos Valley Scottish Rite Club Scholarship application is available in the Student Services Center and the application deadline is April 1, 2014. Students must attach a recent photograph to their application and include a high school transcript, a copy of their SAT or ACT scores, two personal reference letters, and two academic reference letters. Every application is reviewed for the student’s achievements.

Texas Lyceum will be offering four $5,000 scholarships to Texas high school seniors. Students must have a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale, and have exhibited leadership in school and community activities. In addition to completing the online application, students need to send in a resume, high school transcript, copy of SAT or ACT scores, letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or principal and two typed essays. The essays must not exceed 500 words and the topics are available with the online application. The application deadline is March 7, 2014. Go to www.texaslyceum.org to fill out an application.

A $4,000 scholarship will be awarded this spring to North Texas students with leadership abilities, high moral character, demonstrated financial need, and a connection to sports. Applications are available in the Student Services Center and the application deadline is February 3, 2014.

The Parker County Retired Teachers Association is offering a scholarship for a Parker County high school graduate who intends to attend Weatherford College. The applicant must express that they intend to pursue a career in education. Students should include a completed application, an essay about their accomplishments and aspirations, two letters of recommendation, and a high school transcript. The application deadline is April 15 and you may pick up an application in the Student Services Center.

Are you planning to attend Weatherford College? The scholarship application is now available online. Go to the Weatherford College Financial Aid website to access this application. The application allows you to apply for the Weatherford College Foundation Scholarships, Performing Scholarships, and Honor Graduate Scholarships. The Performing Scholarship is available for art, baseball, basketball, communications, cheerleading, choir, drama, jazz band, leadership, and rodeo. The scholarship awards are for $750 for each semester and the deadline to apply is March 15, 2014. The Foundation has over $160,000 to award to students and some scholarships are not based on financial need or grades. Be sure not to miss this valuable opportunity.
