This week, students have learned how to and then demonstrated how to establish an airway (head tilt/chin lift), doe a head - to - toe assessment on a victim, and how to splint and bandage a break or sprain.   We have also practiced dressing and bandaging a wound.
 
All of these exercises constitute a daily participation grade, so students who have missed this need to make arrangements to make it up.

On Friday, Feb 10, students were handed a sheet of paper with the instructions to seek out a hazardous materials placard on an 18-wheeler , train car, or other mobil source, and record the information from that placard.  On Wednesday, 2/10/17, we will use the Emergency Response Guidebooks to look up their placard information to identify the type and properties of the recorded hazardous material.

Students were shown and discussed the components of a fire extinguisher.
We went thru a "practice run" on putting out a small fire with a fire extinguisher as preparation for the live fire exercise coming up in the near future.
This was a daily participation grade and a prerequisite for the live fire.
The future live fire suppression exercise will be a major grade.
