Honors Chemistry

WHS Course Description
In this course students conduct laboratory investigations and fieldwork. Mathematical applications are stressed. Students study various topics: structure of matter, energy changes, reaction types, atomic structure, acids, bases, and salts, chemical and physical changes, gas laws, solutions, bonding, kinetics and equilibrium. Teaching strategies prepare students for AP Chemistry. This is a weighted, two semester course.

As you know, Honors Chemistry will be a more challenging and rigorous course than on-level chemistry. One skill required will be a strong background in math. You should be comfortable with the algebraic manipulation of equations and with exponents and scientific notation. You will also need to be familiar with some basic measurement and chemistry skills that you would have learned in previous science classes.
